At the Machon, They Prepare for Rosh Hashanah by Studying Nigunim and Prayers from the Machzor

At the Dnipro Machon “Chaya-Mushka,” the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community for girls, a special lesson was held dedicated to studying the musical traditions of the holiday prayers for Rosh Hashanah, which will resonate in the synagogue in the particularly solemn atmosphere of this great day.

The lesson was conducted for both the senior and junior age groups, who, under the guidance of teacher and talented musician Mashpia Tziporah Nachshon, learned the main melodies sung during the solemn prayers of the two days of Rosh Hashanah.

“Traditionally, before Rosh Hashanah, we begin to familiarize ourselves with the Machzor so that the girls, when they come to the synagogue with their families, can actively participate in the divine service and sing the prayers and nigunim of this holiday together with the community,” said Mashpia Edna Yudovich. “The lesson was conducted with special reverence and the students’ awareness of the greatness of Rosh Hashanah, and Mashpia Tziporah Nachshon led it very vividly and engagingly. Before Yom Kippur, we also plan a similar lesson with the Machzor for the Day of Atonement.”
