A meeting for participants of the “Bnot Melech” project for 5th-6th grade students was held at the “Chaya-Mushka” Machon, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community for girls, in honor of the Rosh Chodesh celebration for the month of Cheshvan.
The theme of this meeting, led by the young and talented teacher Zivi Smilyanska, who is overseeing the “Bnot Melech” project this year, was the impact of spiritual work on a person, particularly on their physical appearance and even facial features. Just as physical fire melts the wax of a solid candle and makes it softer, the spiritual fire of our soul influences the physical body and its properties.
“We examined the story of a yeshiva student from the era of the Rebbe Rashab, who was very intelligent and talented but had a harsh character and even coarse facial features,” explained Morah Zivi Smilyanska. “However, when he was assigned very serious preparatory work before Pesach, specifically studying a ma’amar, everyone noticed how he changed and how much softer and more attractive he became. From this, the girls concluded that intense spiritual work benefits not only our soul but also makes us softer and better in a physical sense.”
