Dnipro Marks 18 Elul: Farbrengen at “Alter Shul” Synagogue

An extraordinarily emotional and spiritually enriching men’s farbrengen in honor of the 18th of Elul took place at the historic “Alter Shul” synagogue on Kotsyubynsky Street, where the “Good Future” rehabilitation center is now located.

Rabbi Adam Smilyansky spoke about the enormous significance of this day, when two great tzaddikim were born – Israel Baal Shem Tov, the founder of the Hasidic movement, and the great Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of the Chabad movement. All congregants participated with great spiritual elevation in the farbrengen dedicated to this momentous event.

“Every day of the month of Elul in our synagogue passes in a special atmosphere that helps reveal the Divine fire in the soul of every congregant: the shofar sounds solemnly, we read prayers with special feeling and prepare to stand before the Almighty on the days of Rosh Hashanah,” says Rabbi Adam Smilyansky. “We see great success of the ‘Alter Shul’ synagogue and our rehabilitation center in spreading spiritual light, which happens thanks to the tireless care and support of our united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro and its Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
