The celebration of Purim is a special occasion for children. On this day they come to the synagogue with rattles and other noise-making toys. Once, during the reading of the Scroll of Esther in the Rebbe’s synagogue, the children became uncontrollable and made an unimaginable noise. Some adults were outraged – they could not hear a word of the reading. The Rebbe spoke in defense of the enthusiastic tomboys: “Of course, the adults want to hear the reading, but we should not neglect G-d’s desire to enjoy the enthusiasm of the children.
